Best recommendation right now is placing a limit order at ~100 and another one at ~1500, and waiting for them to be filled. Might take a while, but better to be prepared and spread your bids a bit.

Sorry to sound like a dumbass, its going to be the first time i will be buying something worth mentioning (5-10BTC)
What do you mean by "limit order at ~100 and another one at ~1500"?

what are you talking about? no-one is leaving?

What are you thinking about for bids? For me, you'll be lucky if 650 gets filled then as we head towards 900 you'll have more and more chances of buying.

Sorry Sir, I will keep my mouth shut. It would be good news if I could buy a few coins for 650 or so

Ah a new victim!   If you buy in, you will waste hours on this forum looking for solace and people who tell you something you want to hear.

Then a year later - you will do the maths on the hours you have spent watching and wondering and possibly work out if it paid you enough for your time.

Best advice to make that equation a positive one is this:

1. Buy
2. Store in a cold wallet
3. Carry on with living your life and forget about it for a year.

Seriously!

Thank you for your advice. I will be able to buy coins from..lets say BITSTAMP right?

Okay so I've been trying to buy and sell at gox. When I set a limit order to lets say but at $795 for example, how come it dose not buy when the last price goes to it?

Anyone?

I like to watch the order book live at http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com -- gives you a real feel for how things work.

You should see your limit order in the book as the price gets close to your target.  If someone accepts your bid, then you should get your coin.  It should not be possible for a bid of less $/BTC to be executed while yours remains unexecuted.

I am on clarkmoody, looking at the buying section. Will i be paying the price is says there in the column?

DogeCoin is lulz, but it's ridiculous that it has a 6 million dollar valuation.

I know and in four years we can be like remember doge that had a six million valuation! Haha

Good idea. My life has been so much better since I started using Holdbot. I check on it periodically to make sure it's doing what it's supposed to, and it's still never moved a single coin from my wallet to the exchange.

Are bots any good for someone who's a complete n00b

a remedy is: buy and hold
once I posted:

When to buy BTC ?
First:
make your decision/opinion about the future of bitcoins.

Second :
Make a personal forecast/estimation for the value of bitcoins in about 1 or 2 years

than conclude:

is your personal value-forecast/estimation >let`s say 2000 €/BTC than ist dosn`t really matter at what Price below 1000 €/BTC you are going to buy BTC.
The higher your personal value-forecast/estimation  the less does it matter.

You will be on the winning side either way.

So did I:

Quote
Bought and hold
Now I am watching very relaxed and amused price-movements.

The only thing to strictly be applied is:

Quote
put only money in BTC you can afford to lose.

IMHO: BTC is

Quote
a- once-in -a-life -chance
to participate in a revolutionary changing monetary System[in case this will happen]

It's because Emptygox doesn't spit out the money it owes its customers.
Does this have any relation with MtGOX's withdrawal delays?
http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/23/4651926/us-government-seized-5-million-from-bitcoin-behemoth-mt-gox

Is it confirmed that JPY withdrawals work?  What prevents one from withdrawing in JPY and then converting to USD by other channels?

Nothing, that channel of arbitrage works afaik. SEPA (I hear up to 5-6 weeks) and JPY (I hear up to 1-2 weeks) have some delays as well though. SWIFT on the other hand will never go through, as the queue dates back more than half a year and it's growing.

Im in Canada, does this mean I am never getting my 2.5k out of gox Huh
I'm in Canada also, I briefly looked at Gox, but I could not see any reliable way to get fiat in or out. (as a miner, getting fiat out is a bit of a concern)

luckily cavirtex opened soon after and now I can get fiat out in a couple days instead of a couple months...

This sucks, because now I have to wait till the coin goes down in price to buy back what I sold them for, to top it off they haven't verified my account yet. It has been more than 3 weeks

The price prolly won't drop at Gox because too many people like us are waiting for it to happen. They'd have to make some major announcement like a deal with a big bank to fully automate SWIFT withdrawals and I really doubt that will occur. Best thing IMHO would be for Mark K to sell out to someone who has his shit together.  Some smart VC should be making him a sales pitch on that right now. Gox is hemorrhaging market share and that price differential (that is widening) is just the sound of a dying beast.

I will be happy if it goes to about 880. Do you think its a possibility?
