this is getting stupid, lets discuss the price of bitcoin, not just delete posts to 10k

I guess it was a coordinated effort to make sure we remembered the event where we hit 10 K pages
A lot of people like to play jokes lol...

That said its kind of quiet on the bitcoin front auction bidding closes next week for SR
So in my opinion the price won't move much until then or perhaps Friday (Bitcoin black friday) Has not had its tangible effect measured much yet.

yeah, well you never know, bitcoin has a tendency of breaking expectations, although the SR auction is a good opportunity to suppress the price.

True enough
Last time the Silk Road auction made the price go up because it was bought in one large block
This time around its a good question

And for me its Bitcoin black friday that will make the price drop as fiat conversions occur or a small dip.
After that it might make a nice recovery.

Hypothetically if somebody offered you guys 5000 USD per BTC that you own (and you had to sign an agreement saying you wouldn't buy any more, that's it, your participation in BTC is over) would you take it right now?

It would be interesting, since the price they offered is quite decent 5000 per BTC I own would be a good amount of money
Not a 100 grand but still a decent return on investment

But does that extend to alternate crytocurrencies or sidechains, cause I could totally be fine on Maidsafe or Mastercoins ^^.

http://uk.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-crash-drug-dealers-2015-1

“Out a couple of thousand over this,” writes one dealer. “Bad f---ing time to start up. I really hope it bounces back and stays there. I can’t believe how fast they’re dropping. $330 to 280 to 220 in just a few weeks. Bye bye profit.”

“I am losing losing 10-20% on all orders in escrow now!” says another. “Make that 30%!!! There goes all profit! FML.”

One deep web cocaine dealer spoke to Business Insider about the price crash. “It’s pretty damn sad,” they said. “We have worked so hard over the past 3 months, and for profits to get halved? It’s hard to swallow, simple as that, but what can you do. It’s a gamble, whether you hold or sell.”

They'd cashed out and had a massive payday during the bubble in November 2013, so they weren't immediately hurt by the dropping prices. But it’s still “hard work down the toilet.” And other, newer dealers don't have that luxury: they’ll be forced to sell reserves at a loss just to keep going (and potentially forcing the price down even more in the process).

"It´s a death spiral! If it it doesn´t end soon, we (the vendors) will have to switch to something more solid and reliable, like DOGE!"

Now that was one interesting highlight article
Kind of curious about this if the dealers can't handle the volatility and want to move to another coin that would be sort of a surprise
Not a total one though because as mainstream moves in to replace origins drugs sex booze gambling sites etc they would move somewhere else where their is less spotlight.

It depends on the velocity in my opinion it might be a bit of a stretch but if the price keeps going it might feed a cycle that gets it there
We will need to wait and see though could become a suprise

People got a taste of the moon the other day and are prepared to hold tight for a bit.

I think we are seeing the beginning of the next bull market

I see it as a stable point
That said depends on the sentiment but I agree with you the bearish despair seems to have chilled out for now
Whether it turns to bullish sentiment or remains in neutral is going to be the interesting thing about this market for a while.

Price doesn't want to stay below 230 which is a good sign

It's a sign of resistance and an acknowledgement of some fundamental growth over the year
The question is if the market can handle another long wait
Still at these prices percentage relative gains are amplified.

Like I said yesterday, I'll start worrying about the trend since Jan if and when we fall and stay below 260/265, or dip below the DSMA20 without quickly recovering from it.

Unless something like that happens, I consider the most likely scenario that we're going through a repeat of the late February period, i.e. higher low, followed by consolidation, followed by continuation of uptrend.

That has been the pattern for a year or so
Drops then higher lows followed by a rise up then a drop again to a new low area before that pattern roughly repeats
Kind of curious though when that trendline will be broken

Interesting times but tarmi is in bed or ghost like I'd expect. tarmi ran his mouth earlier and had many peeps thinking we're going down but it's only casually went up. Any thoughts on things going south or his sho*t going north?

Tarmi just talks his book. Good luck to him.

Leveraged longs up to 23 million dollars. But shorts up hugely today to 19000 contracts.

I agree with tzupy we could easily get another 5 or even 8 million USD long interest as happened in July 2014. So a squeeze may not materialise.

Today has shown bull whale can stop bear whale if needed. The price is at the mercy of big players. Whoever bought 7k btc earlier could easily have bought 14k. It makes you wonder about timing though. A far smaller buy when the price was 264 earlier today would have propelled us back to the 280/290's for less ammo. Perhaps mystery buyer was waiting for sellers to fire first!

24 hours ago at 252, I asked "buy or dont buy." Noone responded. I ask you tonight Inca at 265, Buy or dont buy??

I guess its worth a shot
Considering that it was at 300 a while ago and dropped down

I think LTC is just catching up. It dropped way too low during the bear market (back to 2012 prices).

Honestly I am still amazed to see its recent rally seeing how it dropped for such a long time.
As it is now I'm curious if it will correct short term or increase even higher long term.
Could go either way at this point

What do you expect the price to be?

I recall it's price at 1.6 not 6 months ago.

That's why I was surprised to see the rally come back so aggressively
As for what I think the price would be its hard to tell as it could either way at this point
With a moving average of 3-4 dollars that might be the stable once the rally stops or it could just keep rising for now at least its uncertain to predict one way or the other.

Can we just change this to the litecoin observer for the next 48 hours?

If this isn't the top, then the top is gonna be something spectacular!

(Fucking tiny pic won't take my images any more, any one have a suggestion?)

Honestly I wouldn't mind but this is technically the Bitcoin observer thread
That said Litecoin is going to have quite the bubble pop seeing that rise, as for Bitcoin well its not following litecoins pattern at all so it might just see a slow rise instead.

I am glad it is settling at $300. I am not bothered if we are back at $280 next week. We need a stable bitcoin. A slow and steady climb at $5 per week will be better than $50 in a month.

Took a  few days off and its nice to see it aggressively near the $300 line and holding.

If I'm wrong, i'll cover at a loss.

You can't predict when the rally will decide to pick up steam
Either way the trend analysis suggests to Hold because it will rise at least a bit more however it doesn't hurt to experiment.

Bro you are so optimistic. 2020 is almost there. 100k per coin in 2021? Would love it, but based on what?

Assuming we’re at approx $10,000 - $15,000 at the time of the halving it’s around 10 x price increase.

At the halving in July 2016 we were at around $600. From there to the peak of our last cycle that’s over 30 x increase.

I think $100,000 per bitcoin at the end of 2021 is definitely possible. Speak to HairyMaclairy for detailed price predictions based on TA & charts. I’m just going off what I’ve observed before. I think HM is suggesting a fair bit more than 100k per coin at the top of this bull cycle.
100k is possible but it's impossible to predict exact top of the cycle. Major bull run usually ends with parabolic rally which means huge gains every day. So it really depends how long the upward momentum can hold until it pops. Just a week more can mean +50%. So there is very little difference between, say 80k and 120k.
