So Sept 9th when people receive their funds, is everyone going to cash out, or will they do the free tradining? Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Are we gonna dip?

The stress test tomorrow might make us dip. They didn't have enough servers to run it properly last Monday and abandoned it after spending a few Bitcoins on transaction fees. They say they will be using more servers tomorrow which will let them do the full stress test.
Again, huh? I guess that's a sign a to send any transactions before the test. Last time the transaction mempool got pretty big and it took transactions quite some time to confirm.

Quoting myself from another thread:
-I was trying to buy something online (costing just 2-3$) with my greek visa, and the charge was getting rejected.
-Gas stations take only cash.
-Suppliers of stuff, take only cash as they are afraid of the consequences of accepting digital payments, and with that I include bank payments (they are afraid they will not be able to withdraw it, or their money could be bailed-in / converted to drachma etc etc).
There is in a sense a fungibility issue with the euro in Greece right now. Digital euros / bank euros "suck" as they are useless to transact. Cash euro is what counts for most people, even companies.
Times like these, you *realize*, not theoretically, but by living it, that you wouldn't trade your crypto for fiat and that crypto is immensely more useful (ie you can actually transact, when with digital cash / banks / cards etc you can't).
The sense of value increases in a way that is unexpected: I wouldn't trade a single BTC even if I was offered >1000 euro in the bank in these conditions. The euros in the bank are useless.
Thanks for that. In Spain the government is more likely to suck up to the EU and bend over for them, but it's still a possibility we could go this way.

Spread is actually much bigger now almost $9, think the consensus is that when it happened few days before, someone was cashing out BTC for LTC pump
The rise was pretty steep over the weekend. A correction is not a bad thing. I don't think we will go below $270 though (totally gut-based prediction).

Bitfinex is showing positive percentages in 24h change.
But the price is not reflecting that increase.
I think something is off.
For example "Change 24h" showed .5% increase when Bitcoin was at 279 and now it shows 1.5% at 277
Litcoin similarly showed a 6% increase at 3.87, and now at 3.84 it's showing a over 8% increase
What is going on here?
It's a moving range. It is possible to have a % increase even at a lower price depending on where the beginning of the range is. Is that what you mean?

Would be great to climb above $280 but for now it doesn't seem (to me) we have enough momentum for it. Very short term, I would not be surprised by a slight dip but I also don't think $270 will give. Flat-lining for now, hopefully we're just catching air for a more active Monday.

Just watched Patrick Byrne's announcement. Basically he announced "t0.com" (tee-zero), a registry for asset ownership that uses ~~the~~ a blockchain to record actual ownership of stocks and similar things. He claims it will give shareholders actual ownership of the shares, and contrasted it with the current system, under which a shareholder does not actually own a share of the company, but only has an IOU from a privileged company that actually owns all the shares.
They are ging to use the Bitcoin blockchain at first, but he said something like "It is ledger agnostic - it can work on Bitcoin, on Ripple, and on another one we are working with but can't tell you yet".
Sounds pretty cool. It's sorta what I imagined after hearing the announcement of a "surprise" on Twitter. Good news!
Meanwhile, price dropping. My node tells me the mempool is 30k. Blockchain.info says 6k and Tradeblock (after a few refreshes) says 50k.

Okcoin is at 1693 CNY/BTC, which at the current rate of 6.43 CNY/USD comes to 263.3 USD. Maybe Bitcoinwisdom hasn't caught on that the Yuan has been devalued twice in two days.
Edit: What are you referring to actually? Bitcoinwisdom is showing Huobi's price as 263 USD
It was showing at ~$274 a few hours ago. I guess they have updated it since then. I was pointing it out as the gap between them and Bitfinex seemed too big. All back to normal now.

I support larger block sizes but this is a shitshow
Two chains can't co-exist for very long. If >75% have already chosen XT then the others will have to jump chain. Basically.
I personally lean towards XT because I find it a better solution than devs' deadlock, but I would have preferred BIP100 or some other solution.

It's been offline for a while now and some reddit threads are full of posts saying it's an exit scam. Agora must have a shit load of Bitcoins under its control.
That really sucks. I had some coins there a while back, I didn't purchase anything so I sent them back to myself. Was recently thinking of maybe sending some funds over that way. Glad I didn't. Still, I hope it's not an exit scam.

Bitcoin XT is the only viable implementation of BIP 101
It is not. Any miner can make a copy of XT and remove the patches that he objects to. Or make a copy of Core and add only those XT patches that implement vote-triggered 8MB limit.
If you are not a miner, you (or any programmer you trust) can make a copy of Core, simply raise the size limit to 8 MB, and start running that version any time before the fork actually happens.
I'm not sure the masses of adopters are gonna do this / or even know-care about the possibility. Vanilla XT is the intended norm.

there pretty much consensus about this, XT is a flop
XT has reached is goal imo to put more pressure. It has also brought out the worst in some people and pointed to some related problems (centralization of control over the places the community uses to communicate, for example).
I ran XT on my node for a while for exactly this reason. I never intended to blindly follow Hearns changes in the future and I think I'm not alone.
i really dont think gavin goal was simply put pressure, but it has worked out that way.

So, how long do you guys think we'll last below $250? Do you think we can hold on to somewhere between $240 and $260 until sometime October? This range does definitely seem great for buying and HOLDING purposes.
I expect we will break out (up or down) of that range during September. I think lots of things could happen this month - mainly (1) some Bitcoin conferences/roundtables that could potentially advance the blocking debates and (2) stock market actions pending on political decisions.

Greed, supply and demand.
Agreed. It looks like (for now) Bitcoin is following the markets - perhaps a surprising thing, but it's been doing so lately. Futures are on the rise today also. Relation?

Not sure. I guess that there has to be at least one output. But I'm pretty sure the transaction will still be huge regardless.

I was a little bit unclear from the website concerning the money options on Gemini - concerning how much it costs to transfer money to the account, what are the available options and how long these various available options take to fund the account. If anyone can enlighten on that point or have references to some easy and informative links, that would possibly help many of us to understand Gemini a little bit better.

At launch, it will be free to deposit and withdraw fundsfrom Gemini.
PRNewswire:
Transfers to and withdrawals from Gemini are free

No matter how much proof Satoshi gives you guys, you'll still nitpick and find fault. No wonder he withdrew from this poisonous community.
Yeah, basically no amount of proof will ever be enough. But you must provide at least
some proof for someone to be considered a candidate. We haven't seen any yet. We're
told that he seems to control at least 1 (one) private key directly associated to Satoshi. But even this doesn't discard a real Satoshi having handed these keys to CW for whatever reason (eg. money). In fact, if I were Satoshi, I would have probably done something just like that a long time ago.
