Today, is a very special day...

But it's very very confusing! Could this really be the moment bitcoin jumped the shark? Fonzie turning bullish!? Gotta mark that day in my calender!

Wow!  That was an exciting day!  I hope tomorrow bitcoin Hi/Lo range is 7 entire dollars again!

Updates:
-The paint is still a bit sticky in the corners
-The grass grew 1.2mm today in the garden
-The layer of dust on top of the computer display is .1 microns thicker than yesterday
-31 people walked down the street outside my house today, 2 more than yesterday
I can't take this much excitement!!1!11!

Haha, whoa, nice examples the Bitcoin price compares to! You see, sometimes on TV when they talk about the Dow Jones or the Dollar and report a 1-2% change, they completely go nuts. This usually would be considered a sleeping pill in bitcoinland - maybe the one empowering took!

But what if Intel jumps on the train by designing an IC that's far more superior to any other ASIC chip, and they just use it to achieve over 51% of the total network! They could destroy bitcoin! They're experts in IC design like no one else!!!

If there is one thing I have learnt about Bitcoin this year it is that no one has a clue what is going to happen with the price

Well ... you're not right :-)

I can say what will happen with the price.
It will go up and away and this can happen at any time from now :-)

You really sure? What makes you think that? I'm also quite optimistic, a BULL in your language Wink But do you have some of this TA to support that? I really want to make sure the price really goes up again!

Anyone noticed that the value of the Bitcoin Network has risen quite a lot the last half year, regardless the price of 1 BTC?

Meaning that because a small part of all the bitcoins in existence are being dumped it is not represantative for the entire network, wich at first was a 1200$/BTC drugs favored ponzi scheme, now it has transformed into a 567$/BTC payments network with VC firms, politicians, companies and consumers supporting it. Meanwhile people have less and less reasons to complain that only a few people have a lot of bitcoins, that is if they are smart enough to buy.

Ahh that makes sense, yeah! I guess you could be right. Is that the reason why you became bullish on bitcoin now? Didn't you use to be a perma-bear? I can see how this makes you reconsider!

The utility of bitcoin is the sum of the benefits derived from its applications by its users.

The value of bitcoin is the size of its transactional economy over a given period.

The price of bitcoin is wherever the market happens to clear.

Only in the case of perfectly rational actors under perfectly efficient condtions will these three coincide.

Phew, well that's a bit difficult to read, man. Could you phrase this in a way so a normal person can understand it Cheesy But I guess you're saying that Bitcoin got more useful for the people, right? Thanks to you and fonsie for pointing that out!

Bullish.

Indeed...sell volume is also pretty lame

We need big volume, man. We need a big volume retest of $275. That should bring us up again. Or maybe even just go all the way to $200-ish and then a clear and strong rebound back to $700. This bear market needs to stop now!!!

Sell the news? I don't know it's really strange, man. I guess it's just a typical correction going on right there. Nothing more. It had to be expected after the overnight pump. I think we're still in a good situation and will continue on the bull's path to the moon!

Continentals, listen up. Risk free* trade:

1. Buy BTC  in Euros on Stamp and Kraken
2. send BTC to BFX in Hongkong (takes ~ 30 min)
3. Sell for USD
4. Lend out USD for ~40% annual interest (that's what I'm getting)

BOOM! You're hedged against Euro devaluation AND getting a nice vig

* obviously there is risk in any trade
Where are you getting 40% interest on lending USD? And how?

I believe he's talking about lending the USD on Bitfinex in terms of swaps. People need it for margin/leveraged trading. You lend them USD, they buy more BTC with it than they could afford otherwise and make more profit. If the price goes down though, they're forced to liquidate and may end up losing everything. You are *supposed* to be safe when lending there.

Okay. I will see. Surely will

But keep in mind that this is in no way 'risk free'. It could always come to a situation of a cascading crash where there aren't enough buyers for the BTC to guarantee that you get all your money back. They've got some insurances in place, but if all goes wrong or Bitfinex goes bust, you've got yourself a 0% ROI...

Don't think it was too stupid to bet on BTC going above $300 over the last week. USD swap rates were going up, price was resilient. I think that this will be just another bottom and a new support to build the rocket, don't you agree guys?

Or a continuation of the long term bear market we're in. Who knows yet.

All I know is I tried to help people out the last two days by telling them it was gonna drop and they can trade both sides but as per usual nobody listens here in permabull land.

But long-time bears got hurt as well during the last months' bull-run. Shorting only works as long as the market indeed goes down. Hindsight is always a wonderful thing. Even ibankbtc went long the other day, so there's that.

Yeah I believe they can be split up into two kinds of people: Those who only denounce Bitcoin and get something out of simply doing that, and those who try to influence the price, go short, and also reassure themselves that they did the right thing shorting.
