Hmmm let’s watch the Kraken USD USDT pair closely. This may explain BFX rally.
It is fairly obvious that if Bitfinex fired the auditor, they would have said so. Accordingly we have to assume the auditor has quit. Which probably means Tether has gone bad. Hang onto your pants boys and girls - this could get a little volatile.
so coinbase manipuating, bitfinex printing tethers... blah
What happens with bitfinex when the tether thingie comes out --> ?? --> it's a major exchange ...
Kraken is getting into USDT

why?

Oh god why are not understanding this

People are rushing to the exit of Tether. They buy all the coinz on tether exchanges because nobody will be the one holding the tether-bags.
So in the end: Tether-exhanges will have a massive! premium to non-tether exchanges.
Some people are exiting Tether. Not everyone by any means.
I do believe part of this pump is people leaving Bitfinex. I have mostly exited Bitfinex now.
USDT momentarily dropped to 93 cents on Kraken and then back up to 97 cents. I think there must be a roaring arbitrage play going on here.
OK everybody is exiting tether, who would want this coin anyway?
But all this -fake?- ether money -if this is true - which was used to buy BTC/crypto... 'bitfiniex shuttiing down related to corruption/market manipulation' is an article I would prefer not reading about now.
Hopefully they can stretch it out for a year or so :p

More pain coming? Is karhu not pleased?
Karhu:
Although the gradual influence of surrounding cultures raised the significance of the sky-god in a monolatristic manner, the father god "Ukko" (Old Man) was originally just a nature spirit like all the others. Of the animals, the most sacred was the bear, whose real name was never uttered out loud, lest his kind be unfavorable to the hunting. The bear ("karhu" in Finnish) was seen as the embodiment of the forefathers, and for this reason it was called by many circumlocutions: mesikämmen ("mead-paw"), otso ("browed one"), kontio ("dweller of the land"), metsän kultaomena ("the golden apple of the forest") but not a god.

Article from trustnodes.com -
https://www.trustnodes.com/2018/03/07/mt-gox-crashed-bitcoin-trustee-sold-bottom-blockchain-data-revealsMT Gox’s bitcoin addresses are well known as blockchain detectives spent months analyzing them. One such address shows 2,000 bitcoin held by the trustee were moved on December 18th.
On that very day, bitcoin’s price stood at $19,000, briefly fell to $18,000, then continued to fall in subsequent days:

On December the 22nd, the trustee moved 6,000 bitcoin. That’s the big red daily candle above labeled 2, sending price from nearly $16,000 to a brief low of $10,800.
It appears he gave some time for the market to recover, then on the 17th of January at 3AM he sold 8,000 bitcoins. Crashing the market again.
He then sells another 6,000 on the 31st of January, but the vast majority was sold on the 5th of February, 18,000 in total. Sending the price to its recent bottom from which it then went on to recover and nearly double as the selling finally stopped.
This suggests the trustee has sold it all on exchanges, rather than Off The Counter (OTC), sending price down some 75% by perhaps placing market orders.
Doesn't this mean that there was no correction / capitulation ?
Just one man triggering a wave of panic sells outside what the big manipulators expected.
I'll bet a few people got burned by this.
Remember, he sold only 18% of the Gox Bitcoins so 82% of them are still being held and he plans to sell more of them according to the latest update released today on mtgox.com - there is a PDF which can be viewed there right now.
Next 'bargain' day on September 26, 2018.?

Selling under 10k. Sheeeeeeeeeeeet that’s not good. Why do such a thing?
Well again bitcoin is a small part of my portfolio. But because every technical indicator is flashing red. No I'm not a big believer in technical analysis. But when ALL of them signal red at the same time. Well that's not great. Basically that up trend we were all enjoying since the beginning of February is completely obliterated. Signaling that this is was all a protracted bull-trap and the trend from before February is the real trend. Additionally you should understand that 9,000 dollars is a GREAT price for me. The 9,000 that is depressing to you is god damn amazing to me. It is beyond what was even my even most fanciful wildest dream. Look at my account profile. I've been here since 2010. This profit that I just took is enough to retire on. If I leave it in bitcoin maybe it goes really really low and I have no retirement, I have to go get a damned job.
Well I understand, If you can go on retirement with a 9K price, I would do it too.
Who wouldn't actually.
For me personally, there is some time needed up ahead to reach that point

Sounds like you are rationalizing away your lack of foresight. If it had been so great to sell a bit of your holdings, you had a lot of opportunities to sell on the way up and considerably above $10k...
Now you are just spreading bullshit and selling on the way down in a whimpy and whiny and rationalizing way. Trying to justify it with us, for what reason? Do you want others to follow? Get the fuck out of here. Take your profits, and be happy, don't try to speak out of both sides of your mouth in an attempt to get guys to do the opposite of what they should be doing.
True, If you can retire at 9K you could have at 16 or 17 too, better sell on the way up indeed...
You could have retired with twice as much...

I was playing around with graphs (recently discovered SMA lines) when I accidentally stumbled upon these graphs.
Comparing 2013, 2014 and 2018 on the weekly charts.
Comparing those it seems that compared to 2014 we did bounce of the SMA weekly like in 2013.
In 2014 we just went through it without bouncing on it.
That's why I think we are more in 2013 scenario than in a 2014 scenario.
OK past performance is not indicator for future performance and we could still slide through it, but what do you think.
2013

We are repeating the same patterns from 2013/2014/2015.
Bitcoin will drop back down to 2-3k and consolidate there for a while before resuming the next major bull run, probably fluctuating between 3 and 5 grand for a while.
Eth will return to $200ish, Bitcoin Cash will drop to 300-400
This is my prediction and I don't give a damn if you think I'm a nutcase.
I can only go off what I see happening now and so far the pattern is almost the same.
maybe, maybe not
But it looks quite the same behaviour indeed

https://www.facebook.com/MainManTianTan/videos/989155944577930/I know this is facetious humor, and I chuckled as well. But that video summarizes literally everything wrong about the people in the crypto space right now. Notice not a single mention of actually *buying* things with bitcoin, that was trivialized/parodied as well.
Sad where Bitcoin is going. If the price stabilized or went nowhere for a decade, would these people even buy and hold it? Would they purchase things with it? Or would they stick to the corrupt fiat financial system that is enslaving them?
I would LOVE to see Bitcoin's price stabilize and go nowhere for a decade. It would wash away all of these get-rich-quick idiots.
Some stabilizing would indeed be welcome...
There are for sure some quick rich'ers who were lending money to triple it in december, and those types can get lost and never come back!
But - I see at the IT company where I work - youngsters aged 21/22 investing in crypto for the long run too, and there not selling...
Those youngsters are the ones who will keep investing money in the future, they want coins, not stocks
Personally I invested because the technology was promising, rebellious, anti establishment.
Let's face it, coins are held because we know it's value is going to rise, isn't that what investing is all about?

Interesting that we have been in that middle channel for so long. Even if we followed the lower channel we'd be in decent shape long term.

His recent mid-term opinion is bearish however :

Yep a 500$ increase means that the bulls are in for the fight with the bears and they are showing that they don't want Bitcoin to go down below 7,000$. It will just need one big pump for it to go up again. Right now it is trying to complete a inverse head and shoulder pattern which is a bullish formation if it goes about 7,600$ our first target would be 7,700$- 7,800$ but if it goes down to 7,350$ then this rally would be over.

What the hell does this volume decline mean?
-Not even Doanld will risk a wall
-LOL bleedout
-No volume bounce is possible, some anti gravity force I don't know about is out there
It shows indecision as we get to the apex of the big triangle. Something big will happen within the next week or two.
So let's say that their is no volume --> nobody sells nobody buys, no bots nothing.
What happens to the price?
It stays the same level , doesn't it?

"No volume" hasn't happened yet. Low volume means that anybody who buys/sells even just 1$ of the stuff (maybe to themselves, as in a wash trade) get to make the price the world sees. This price manipulation is extremely easy, meaning cheap, because of the low volume.
Thanks, d_eddie, I was actually trying to understand the 'volume preceeds the price' statement.
I often read "their is no volume, volume is declining, price will go down... "
So price shifts upwards with high volume --> uptrend confirmed
Currently price seems stable but the volume is declining, so prices can be stable with decreasing volume too?

I was surprised too... i mean how the hell bitcoin can go <$4,000
I mean how?.... ok why?
Ah one of those mid 2014 , Bitcoin can never go below $400 arguments.
Bitcoin will go as low as it takes to flush any weak, middle and semi-strong hands. This forum isn't even close to the "OMG Bitcoin is dead and I've lost my house" tears of December 14, Jan 15. Once every post in here is bearish and the bulls are laughed at, then and only then can the next rally begin.
Exactly!. The rally can only begin if the term "bulltard" is consistently used for a prologend period of time. Period!
Looking at older topics, this type of statements seem to happen close to the bottom.

You are failing and refusing to understand proper context when you selectively remove some part of history in order to attempt to paint a picture about what is happening.
In other words, let's get back to reality because your hypothetical framework leads us into fantasy land, rather than considering actual facts on the ground.
No need to fret about a different angle.
Fact is the reality has been twisted due the spectacular rise EOY 2017.
Omitting this and all would fine and dandy

After much thought, in the spirit of fulfilling my promise, and to spite all the haters, I am offering to send 0.000777 BTC (to anyone within 20 pages of my boastful post @
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg30630119#msg30630119 - the below compiled list) if you PM me with a BTC address.
My banter was that if it touched the 8's, I would buy beers.
Therefore, $7 / $8999 == ~0.000777 BTC
PoolMinor should have received his TX already via PM.
My sincere hope is that this shuts up JJG, and I get to knock him the fuck out at the $100k party.
What happened to the idea of doing it in Las Vegas?

After further consideration, throwing the $100K party in Las Vegas would be much easier to plan.
It would need to be a Masquerade Ball sorta deal to have any chance of maintaining a semblance of anonymity while interacting with your fellow WO'ers in bonafide meatspace.

I guess one difference with 2014 is that back then, people were considering it a possibility BTC could dissapear slowly and die.
Whereas now, people know BTC is here to stay (at least for some time to come) with all the nasdaq, ETF things going on.
A possible recession could indeed slow things down, curious to see how it reacts.

Yup. And mad enough to let it run longer when he realised it....

We don't use Kraken for price referrals.
You ever heard about Bitstamp?
Yes, busy with creating an account on bitstamp for diversification.
Currently using cryptowatch from kraken.
Just checked the price difference, there seems to be not that much of a difference.
Compared with bitfinex and binance, which seem to have larger arbitrage differences.

FFS we’re going down again, where’s the support level?
It starts at 3.7.
I mean, it can go lower, but it should bounce soon over 3.7 again to maintain it.
And I think it is 3.65 the lowest bouncing point that should not be crossed.
Hopefully that 100 SMA on the daily holds

Are you talking about bitcoin?
What is the thing you call "crypto?" Never heard of it.

This run still feels fake to me. Like every bullrun before. I expect a new ATH and at the same time can think of dropping hard to where we started at 3k Levels from here

There is really no explanation why this is just happening out of nowhere.
.
Yes mixed feelings, many people didn't expect this so soon and so brutal.
the mother of resistances was nearly non existant and should now hold instead.
It's a whole different game now, the ecosystem evolved, the internet evolved and all of this at a much faster pace than before.
The f***in whole world is connected.
One can't imagine what madness lies in front of us if this is only the start.

The image isn't clear to me. Is bitcoin at 2015 fell down before it rallies up? Many scenarios was viewed this way. So I think that this will be the scenario we might see in the coming days.

But a difference is that in then in 2015 and now (2019) there is a halvening event coming up, in about roughly 372 days

Good Morning fellow WO observers,
hard bump we got there overnight,
if this will climb up again over the next hours or few days this will be super bullish and we break out of all known patterns we know, totally new terretory.
lets roll into this unknown land of unexpected chart patterns
Indeed Lets do that

As I also notice, we have had Some days of better weather in Belgium this night price drops and today the weather is much worse...??
Could this be any related?? Probably equal of chance as many other predictions

So Maybe to add weather graphs to the price graphs??

And last but not least, looking out for other signs, there is a full moon coming up the 18th of May...

Mayer Multiple is 1.0, just like when it was at $5k last time.
Screaming: BUY TIME
Maybe if you're a careful day trader, but ultimately this thing is on its way to sub $1,000. Bitcoin simply cannot sustain anything more than that. It certainly will never be worth more than $10,000 again.
Contrarian indicator, I guess everything will be fine then
