I think someone already clarified that it was related to BTC, a primary telecommunications provider for the Bahamas and the recent hurricane, Dorian.
Edit: Got it. It was vroom.
I have an update on the google trends search spike. It's noticeable that only the search term BTC is spiking but not bitcoin. The region with the most searches is Bahamas, a victim of the hurricane Dorian. BTC stands for Bahamas Telecommunications Company. mystery solved I think.

i can see why the "blockchain-not-bitcoin" idiots went wrong. there is only one blockchain that has a valid use case and that is an invention: bitcoin.
to see an entire high-tech nation, and not a marginal one, to fall for this stupidity is hard to believe. the only explanation i have ( and i am no expert in this field) is that TRUST is such a big issue for china, since there is this culture of cheating and now they hope that "blockchain" will somehow make it easier for them to trust companies (for example).
i dont see "blockchain" working. it is out for a decade now, where are the applications? other than money/bitcoin?
if they really go all-in to "blockchain" with their entire economy it will end as a catastrophic failure like the Great Leap Forward.
That's because if they abruptly approve of bitcoin, other idiotic nations will call China, the funding nation for criminals. I think it's good they have reversed their earlier stance and have recognised blockchain. Once everyone gets involved into blockchain, it's only a matter of time they recognise Bitcoin.

Bitcoin already is a gateway to many other cryptocurrencies.
In the long run the statecoins (centralized) and BTC, maybe a few other coins that make sense will survive.
So why don't you like it?
I'd be more comfortable holding a BTC stash and "using" it partially for exchange into other CC i can actually use.
This doesn't mean BTC can't be used, but it would give me better control about exchange fees.
We already have fiat currencies, I am not looking for a centralised stable coin for each country which is going to do the same job of the fiat currencies. If you are saying about ease of transfer, fiat currencies can be transacted through online payment gateways and it can also done as cash for the unbanked, which is not possible with the stable coin. So what's the point in creating a stable coin for a country? And I don't think they'll make any difference. If it was a global stable coin, at least we could could cut the cross border exchange fees.
In my opinion, a global stable coin like Libra better than fiat which is better than a localised stable coin. All these are in now way to be compared to Bitcoin which is in a separate league.

I don't necessarily follow your assumptions there. China doesn't have to recognize BTC ever (though I think they eventually will). They can establish their own mandatory digital currency with a state centralized blockchain and any Chinese citizen who uses something else they'll charge with "provoking trouble".
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/24/world/asia/china-metoo-hong-kong-protests.htmlThe activist, Huang Xueqin, was detained last week in the southern city of Guangzhou, according to friends who asked not to be identified by name. The authorities accused Ms. Huang, 31, of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble,” a vague accusation that the government often uses to silence activists who challenge the status quo.
I am not saying that China will definitely recognise Bitcoin. But there is a possibility right ? That's what I'm happy about.
Edit: Check LuckMcFly's post on Chinese bank investing on bitcoin wallet -
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg52907277#msg52907277So, I guess the Chinese government might recognize Bitcoin sometime in the future. So does the other governments.

Halal way of killing the animal is by cutting the artery and windpipe. In this process, most of the blood are let out of the body. But the animal wriggles after the slaughter. This is how Muslims and Christians kill the animals in my area.
Jhatka way is killing the animal with a single blow to the head. The animal falls down with a thud after the slaughter.

I'm guessing the YouTube crypto crackdown has to do with potential violations of Securities Act § 17(b), the "anti-touting" provision, which requires promoters of securities to disclose any compensation they received for their promotion. I'm surprised it took this long, honestly.

Meanwhile in China

Recently , with the promotion and promotion of blockchain technology , virtual currency trading activities are showing signs of resurgence in the country. Some virtual currency trading platforms provide virtual currency trading services to domestic residents. They have launched zero-interest loans, dual currency wealth management and other projects through digital currency mortgages. Serious violations of the "Announcement on Preventing the Financing Risk of Tokens" issued by the People's Bank of China and other seven ministries and commissions are suspected of engaging in illegal financial activities and disrupting the economic and financial order.
The financial management departments, network telecommunications management departments, and public security departments within the jurisdiction continue to maintain high pressure on virtual currency transactions, ICOs and disguised ICOs, and comprehensively use on-site interviews, administrative investigations, website closures, and criminal case filing to combat them.
Here, we seriously warn institutions and personnel in Beijing that carry out related activities shall not publicize and promote relevant virtual currency projects or platforms, do not conduct virtual currency business sales or transactions, do not engage in virtual currency transactions or disguised transactions with investors, and shall not engage in Acting on domestic and overseas virtual currency issuance and trading activities, financial institutions and non-bank payment institutions within its jurisdiction shall not provide services for any virtual currency transaction.
At the same time, investors are reminded to maintain rationality, strengthen awareness of risk prevention and identification capabilities, beware of being deceived, and report related violations of laws and regulations in a timely manner.

I must admit that I am surprised that Justin Sun survived this enthusiasm with Buffett (you missed one t), considering what his twitter looks like after this historic encounter. Now Buffett is the owner of TRX and BTC, does this mean that he will now start talking positively about BTC?
Buffet did sell his Newspaper holdings recently, which he was so proud of and had high hopes for years. He had accepted that this is an Internet Era. Maybe he'll realise the potential of Bitcoin, if we give him some time.
Now that he owns some, he might learn something about Bitcoin and will change his mind when he realises the true potential.
It's amazing that he gives Justin advice on how to move on with TRX, he probably told him to sell everything he had and buy some stocks

That actually would be a great advice

Looks like everybody here who properly invested in bitcoin before 2017 have around at least 50 and possibly closer to 100 btc while other late people who started to accumulate after 2017 have something between 5 and 15.
Makes sense since btc is now at x10 of the 2014's ATH.
Being early pays.
*pussies who stare at their monitors but never buy will never get close to these levels
If the latecomers play their cards right they'll have an opportunity to increase their btc stash by %200 - %500. All it takes is shorting the parabolic at the right time.
Wow.. I started investing in
BTC on Oct 2017 and have been investing whatever I can on Bitcoin and am still struggling around 0.2
BTC. This makes me wonder, how you calculated that if someone started accumulating
BTC after 2017 they’ll be having something around 5-15
BTC. Maybe you are talking about the rich guys who are able to invest over 700$ every month 3 yrs back. Sadly, I don’t even earn 700$ a month

I doubt that very many long term bitcoiners really agree with any of the pushes to make cash illegal.. or to discourage the use of cash.
Why not? We already have Petro, the Chinese almost ready to launch digital Yuan, the Japanese are brainstorming whether to have a digital yen and other Governments might also follow. Almost everything has gone digital now

HOW MUCH BITCOIN YOU NEED TO BE IN THE RICHEST 1% OF BTC HOLDERSAccording to the BlockWorks Group analyst, you only need 0.28 BTC to be in the top 1% richest of the world (in BTC terms).
No more than 5-10 million people will ever own a full Bitcoin
This naturally implies an unfair uneven distribution of the wealth as “whales, hodlers, nations and institutions” hold the lion’s share.

Bitcoin is distributed perfectly fairly based on the time, effort and passion each person put into acquiring and holding their share. The only natural implication here is that most people ignored Bitcoin until it was too late for them to afford their "fair" share. Do people get paid to write this tripe?
Updated OP.
I believe that you got carried away by the word "unfair". Now I have fixed it for you.
Almost everything in the world is unevenly distributed and someone will always complain that something is unfair.
The point is not about the distribution, it is about the minimum requirement of Bitcoin to be among the 1% BTC rich. The reason I shared the article is that I'm very happy that I'm close to hodling 0.28
BTC and will be one of the 1% BTC rich peeps by this year or the next if Bitcoin doesn't rise parabolically. It was a 2+ year-long journey for me.
PS: Not sure if "carried away" is the apt word, but I tried. English is not my first language.

is anybody so kind and explain or send me the link to the DCA strategy please?
BTW, we should start something where the WO terms are explained to Newbies like me.

Dollar cost averaging is simply deciding how much you want to invest and then dividing it into regular contributions over a given period of time.
ie I want to invest $8000 this year into Tesla so I will make biweekly contributions of $307.69.
This method is supposed to lower your risk with respect to volatility but imagine doing that with a stock that continues to lose value over time - you're giving away your money.
I think the DCA strategy only works when markets are in an uptrend... but I'm no expert.
edit: JJG?
DCA strategy works in long term. DCA is all about avoiding your market entry timing. It doesn't have anything to do with uptrend or downtrend. If you believe that a project will excel over long term, instead of timing the market you could go for DCA. If you use DCA and still end up in loss long term that just means that your investment choice is poor.
Hope I'm not wrong.
