I could completely wrong, it is likely that I am, but I think that there are a large number of automated traders on both Bitstamp and BTC-e. Some while ago these bot-users determined that the Chinese markets could/would serve as nice triggers for the other exchanges. ++ for a long while it was Gox that served up similar triggers ++
In our increasingly nervous market the bots detect a movement on, say, Houbi and automatically follow suit. That combination is enough for human traders to climb on the bandwagon and reinforce the initial move. Then the more rational/reasoned traders counter-move and the initial trajectory is reversed.
I believe that these oscillations will continue until: 1. There is no 'other market' that serves up a trigger; or, 2. Confidence is regained, the nervous market ends, and a true vector forms.
$0.02
Or another possibility: market makers selling BTC short.
Hasn't anyone else noticed that TradeFortress (the guy that made inputs.io the "hacked" webwallet resulting to losses of 4000 bitcoins) is back in the forums posting totally irrelevant stuff?

For some reason the round 450 scares me. I can't help but think that punic sells will start at this point because of people thinking it's a milestone.

holy shit are you guys seeing this? I really think this is the start of the next explosive growth phase. $4,000 by July?
If you haven't bought back in yet... panic!
I can't really say that I'm impressed by the $480 What's the most to me is the volume though.
Besides that, to me there's nothing to make optimistic about the future of the price. It could be in the ~450 rage until we hear some good news again. To me it's more likely that the opposite would happen.

Wow, can hardly believe the ripple news, why do people still think centralized and heavily owned currencies are the way forward?
Ripple is something new. It offers unique features and in comblination with bitcoin can be a really powerfull currency system. It's a really advanced platform and could have a great future.
I don't like systems based in centralisation as well but ripple takes it much further than most "centralized and heavily owned currencies" as you mention do.

What do you guys think about the whole "willy" thing? What happens after the revelations?
It's an opinion. A very compelling and well researched opinion. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if it was true but until we have concrete evidence it's still conjecture.
If the full story ever does come out, it's going to feel like ancient history.
One of the things that I think is that potentially it might not change much. Fact is we're already at the point where the lost gox btc has been accepted as lost/hacked/unrecoverable etc. Now if this isn't going on on other exchanges the price we're at today is a 'fair' price. Only time will tell what the market thinks. I'd expect at least an attempted panic retraction but in terms of the price today what does it change?
But what if this becomes mainstream? I think that if popular news agencies cover this story the general public will start having doubts about the price bitoin has today. Maybe resulting to a nother fall.

The crash to double digits is not gonna happen! But I'm convinced a decline to the price due to the news is perfectly possible. Remember what the speculation about China did?

plus500.com short LTC ..I am
Which timeframe does plus500 allow on cryptocurrencies now?
Answer:
Warning! - Litecoin value is extremely volatile. Expires daily!
I really don't see the sense in that...
The volatility rule pretty much applies for every crytp currency. Since they're market prices driven solely by people's interest and there are no limitations set, it means that anyone can come in and
play with the price. Bears, willy's, whales. All sorts of things.

Can anyone tell me where do you guys watch btc walls. On stamp ?
I'm new to this wall thing.
http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/ Is really usefull! It lists exchanges by volume and has an instant update each time a trade is exevuted in one of them.

Look at all the average Joes buying in, because BTC solves a problem for them and doesnt add 10 new problems. Almost 500 000 000 ppl use BTC daily to purchase goods and not to hold it for the rest of their lives....because deflation makes sense in economy.
What? 500 millions of people? Yeah right. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

Kinda ironic that a bunch of traders turns out to be a such sensitive group of people.
And still not having fonzie on ignore, just mind blowing actually
To be honest, some text lines posted in a forum can't really hurt nobody. If people put value on the words that come out of the mouth of someone like fronzie, that's when the problems start. People just need to relax and stop taking trolling seriously.
Feeding the trolls is where some of us go wrong here.

Yeah, but look at that massive sell wall @630 on BTC-e. Could be fake though.
What do you mean fake? Doesn't someone need to have his founds available in his account in order to put an order?

Some people are talking for a general downtrend at the end of each month, I'm not sure if that's a real thing or if they're bringing this up to change people mind from being bearish. To be honest I can't really spot such a thing in longterm charts. I don't feel like people are mass selling at the end of the month, it could be a whale dump again that caused the downfall.

Well, if the end of the month downtrend thing is true, I'd be intresting to see if the market stops being bearish wen the new month comes in.

Drops like this are difficult for me. I've been planning to buy more for weeks. But every time I've bought in the past, it drops the next day. So I'm like a kid that has touched a hot stove one too many times, finally learning that a hot stove is indeed hot and not wanting to get burned again....
Summer is nearing it's end. 15th of August is when everyone wealthy from Europe goes on holiday abroad. We are probably reaching the bottom within this week. I feel like it's safe to predict that we'll see some rise when Summer is close to it's end.

My best guess is that people are trying to increase the activity of accounts in posts with tons of activity so it doesn't look suspicious.

The vast majority of his posts seem like nonsense to me. Hence why he's ignored.

People keep talking about manipulation in USD markets but take a look at GDAX BTC/EUR. Who put up this sell wall and why?

It's a 500k EUR sell wall all of a sudden, god dammit. No other market has such a big bump of resistance in its depth chart.

There are crazy price differences between GDAX and bitstamp. How come that there are consistent price differences for hours at a time?
Could this be a sign of
price manipulation that's rumored to be happening in GDAX? I mean, both exchanges are operating without major issues, trading with big volumes and accepting FIAT deposits... How come there can be long-lived price differences for their BTC pairs?

What's up with GDAX market sell orders remaining on pending forever right now? Are they trying to prevent the price from falling to sharply or what? Aren't they obligated to fill the order at whatever market price there is?
