Thought all you original hodlers who can't trade worth a damn

would get a boner from this!
BitMEX, which handles around $1 billion in trades per day, will sell all users’ Bitcoin Cash, and credit their wallet with the Bitcoin proceeds.

A good read:
Bitcoin’s future – Money changes everythinghttps://bravenewcoin.com/news/bitcoins-future-money-changes-everything/"Where the risks do lie, however, is in the debilitating effects on bitcoin specifically, caused by the now par-for-the-course social vitriol targeted at anybody who puts their hand up with a proposal on how bitcoin might be improved. After all, there are plenty of other currencies and crypto assets they could be dedicating their brainpower to, and it would be unfortunate for bitcoin if the public trolling saw the best and brightest assigning bitcoin to the too-hard basket in favour of more welcoming crypto communities"

I haven't verified this, but it seems the whole CME listing thing may be BS?
China "news" comes out that it is shutting down exchanges. Partial selloff but not enough so what do we need. Let's see!
Jamie Dimon comes out and calls Bitcoin' a fraud, ok was the selloff part of normal pullbacks or did Jamie add to the degree. No one knows for sure, but one of JP Morgan's client's seemed to buy a crap load the day after the selloff. Hmmmmm Yes I know it wasn't JPM' themselves but you rub my back I rub yours!
We also saw Zcash announcing a partnering with JPM' to use their block chain technology. GREAT!! Yes and it's semi private. OOOPS JPM' in the news for money laundering. Maybe they should have partnered with XMR' (noticed the run it had as of late).
Then we get the news the CME' and the CBOE' are going to start trading bitcoin 6.16% futures! YEAH to the moon baby. It's happening in the 4th quarter right. I'm excited and was even more excited to see posted on the CME's website that futures start trading Dec 0.77% 10th! Yeah baby! I even called my broker to see if they will be handling them. Nope so I called another and setup and account there, as tradestation is going to allow bitcoin' futures trading! I'm ready to go! Wait where did the post on Dec 0.77% 10th go? OOOPS Laurie Bischel, spokeswoman for the exchange said the original posting "WAS DUE TO AN ERROR WITH THE WEBSITE". HUH. You mean your not starting to trade futures Dec 0.77% 10th, I'm setup and ready to go! What is an "error with the website"? Were you hacked? Was it a joke? Was it premature? Do you not have any protocols in line to insure this doesn't happen? OR is the CFTC' putting it's foot down on your idea?
So I read a little further. CME has NOT yet filed with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission but are in "active" discussions with the regulators. Why are you "in discussion with regulators" thanks to the laws that were passed by our wonderful government the CME does not need the CFTC's permission to list products for trading. Just has to file a "self certification" with the regulator, meaning the products complies with the Commodity and Exchange ACT. So what's the holdup? and more over why are you "talking" with regulators about a product that you can self certify? HMMMMM This is not good news and I may be closing that tradestation account! Something is definitely not right here!
But Bitcoin 6.16% does not care and neither do the buyers for now! The chart screams higher, but I remember when the chart screamed PULLBACK. Be careful at these levels. Maybe this is just a collusion of JPM' and the CME' group to run this puppy up to allow their large investors to bank on the backs of us average Joe's. https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/Jc54sMRa-BTC-Price-Manipultion-The-CME-and-JPM-are-at-it-again/

I hope you experienced guys can advise:
Which exchange is best to use to change a LARGE amount of BTC into USD and deposit it into a bank acc in the UK plz.
ie:
It's important to try and keep the whole transaction immune to the volatility of BTC so the the deposited USD amount is as close to the initial amount as possible.

Thx for the replies and advice guys.
I was phoned by a friend who does gold mining. Plant setup etc.
He has an investor who wants to put in 700 BTC in a hurry. (Probably due to the ever present, almost universal price correction concerns)
He is worried about the volatility of BTC and wants to get it changed into USD and into a company acc (HSBC) in the UK asap.
(Personally I think he might be surprised at just how many businesses would be happy to accept BTC for the required equipment, but he does not think that way)
I found this:
https://news.bitcoin.com/otc-trading-whales-bitcoin/And have contacted
https://www.itbit.com/and
https://binaryfin.comIt goes without saying that these institutions need to properly checked out and be legit.
Does anyone have any experience here?
I am way out of my depth here and would not have asked so publicly had time not been of the essence.

Let's see if I get it correctly... Your friend does not have the BTC, but someone wants to invest in his business using BTC and he wants to convert it to USD inmediately?
If that is correct, your friend better do the deal with a broker that could also carry on the due diligence over those Bitcoins or he could end up with some sort of "tainted" ones and be in big trouble. Maybe Gemini or any other of the big ones with dedicated OTC desks who will also be able guide him through all the steps of the transaction.
Thats correct.
He is worried about the volatility of BTC and also says his suppliers etc "haven't even heard of BTC!"
(I think he should ask them before jumping to conclusions)
Thx for the advice.
Thx everyone who replied!

Are
https://www.itbit.com/and
https://binaryfin.comlegit as stated?
I am adding
Gemini
Bitstamp
to the list of possibles.
Any other recommendations?

is your friend a Nigerian prince?

The mining operations are in Darkest Africa so its possible!
However; I have met and worked with these people, so doubt whether they are being led up the garden path.

BTC transaction times are slow and costs high.
This is negatively affecting BTC prices with everyone changing to alt coins before transferring or transacting and seeing no reason to change back...
The solution was and is Segwit.
Yet last I looked only about 10% of exchanges were Segwit enabled.
My question is:
Why?
- Why are exchanges anti Segwit..!??? I think its a greed thing?
- How can that be changed? Is there some way to entice /force exchanges to implement Segwit?

I'm quite surprised at all the negativity and uncertainty regarding BTC here.
IMHO BTC just went Hypodermic for a while and has now corrected back into the parabolic trend it has 'always' been in:
https://fs.bitcoinmagazine.com/img/images/Figure_2_2_uoCMXak.original.jpg(SOZ; can't get the image to show here? Hopefully some who can will post it plz)
The above image hasn't been updated since the 4th, and the new 14K bottom (that aligns very nicely with the other 4 bottoms just below the top parabolic trend line) isn't shown.
IMHO exchanges need to be somehow persuaded/forced to adopt Segwit, but other than that we are looking at a an excellent buy opportunity atm.

Hypodermic: the region immediately beneath the skin.
BTC certainly is under people here's skin! But I thought perhaps the word had been adopted by traders as the guy who wrote the original article seems to know WTF he's talking about!..?

"...Cartel — The 4th dimension of the market
There is 4th dimension that exist in FEW Markets, Its called “Cartel”. Its primary Goal is “Price-suppression”. Please note — it IS NOT “Manipulation”....
The items listed under Jan-30 and Mar-07 below are the NEWS ONLY. This is how cartel uses media-propaganda to break the price. Ex: Mt. Gox did NOT sell on Mar-07 but the NEWS of this sell was released on Mar-07. Also, the Tether subpoena was issued in Dec-6 but the NEWS was released with the other critical news releases on Jan-30 with the objective to start the next dump….Why did they wait 55 days to release the Tether subpoena news and how did it hit with all other Bad news on the same day? Now you know why..."
https://medium.com/@super.crypto1/4th-dimension-bitcoin-manipulation-cartel-can-it-be-burnt-no-way-c53de65c166aThoughts?
And more importantly; whatTF can or are the 'whales' do/doing about it?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT?
(From a late to the party crypto nobody)
Who here is buying burgers, cokes and smokes with BTC or any other crypto for that matter..?
Except for cheap, fast international transfers, quickly cashed out "before the price drops!" all crypto is used for nothing more than speculation on dodgey exchanges.
That being the case; I speculate that its going nowhere fast!
What is required is the education of our youth.
(Most of us are happy to pay MS for office despite the fact that there are many superior, free alternatives, because us humans are lazy to learn after around the point when our balls drop)
Ask kids to define money.
Once they realize that it's nothing more than a universally accepted token of value that's not easily counterfeited, they will realise that crypto is simply better money.
Then it will be accepted and used for whatTF it's supposed to be used for!
Ask lots of kids! Then the sky's the limit! Not before.
In short; what all crypto needs is to educate kids in crypto.
Set aside 10% of all crypto for crypto education if you want it to be the new paradigm?
