Once bitcoin was out of the bear run (transitioned into a bull run), we can still use the approximate $250 price stability point of 2015 as our starting reference. Accordingly, it took about a year to triple to $750-ish, and then it took about 9 more months to triple again to $2,500-ish.. .and then it took about 3 months to triple again to $7,500-ish....
Funny, but I've been making this graph, to show how last 5 doubling events since $250 look like two distinct exponents:
270 days
270 days
90 days
90 days
90 days

The question is, how much longer the second exponent will last...
This graph seems to fit in the theory about the market manipulations by the "Tether Gang"
The article argues tether was stable throughout 2016 and did not start to increase until March 2017. Tether’s value seemed to take off along with Bitcoin’s dramatic rise.
https://news.bitcoin.com/tether-coin-may-be-a-precarious-us-dollar-peg/The question is, how much longer the second exponent will last...
I have some feeling like as long as the Tetherbubble does not bother the US treasury or they get some cash-out problems by a falling bitcoin price.
The second is easy to prevent with unlimited funds (though it might get implausible if they exaggerate it) but they also get in the way of the plans of the "Bitcoin Cash Gang" to crash BTC.
I can already imagine Hollywood making a movie about this all ...

Well NiceHash attacks could well (should, even?) increase. It might not be too pretty, either - especially as it's POW coins that will take the brunt of it.
OK, I was wondering how shitcoins might be pruned as, in a Darwinian way it seems sort of inevitable when there are obviously way too many with no real use case, or any likely long-term value. But the minimal money to wreck some fairly big name coins, rattles me a tad. It will not exactly be good news if it is widely perceived that POW itself is not safe.
I know BTC is a way bigger deal to attack and almost impossible, but...

Ok so Ive been invested in BTC since 2018 with an average cost basis of about 8k per coin. Sadly I dont see how we arent going to have at least one more huge move down well below 3k. I have orders to buy 3 more coins if we hit 2k. I dont want to sell rn but I am considering taking out a short position here. I believe in Bitcoin, but Im tired of so much losing in my first year

Could a few members help me out and post their best argument for why we already saw the bottom, or their best argument of why we are gonna have another big move to new lows.
Thank you in advance.
Stop worrying about shorting the final gasp of the bear market and start thinking about when you are going to long the bottom and how you are going to do it. Much more profitable.
I have thought about this, thats why I said I have orders to buy 3 more coins at 2k. Thats all I can afford to lose. It will bring my total investment to almost 40k. I will not invest another dollar after that. All ive known investing in Bitcoin is a terrible bear market and its hard not to worry as early adopters dump on my face

, but thank you for the advice.
Im interested in hearing other Bitcoiners best argument(s) as to why the bottom is not in yet(i believe it isnt but hope im wrong). If you have one id love to hear it. If not thanks anyway.
You could look into Hyperwave theory - but that is really hard stuff predicting courses below 1k (and no one knows if bitcoin really behaves like the stock markets).

How do you secure your security seed? Honest question
Writing/engraving it down in multiple places of trust. No photos are allowed.
Also switching around a couple of words, would "secure" the seed in the event of an intruder finding it.
Need to remember which words of course.
You can bring some extra security in the steelplate (paperwallet) solution by dividing the phrase in three parts where you need at least two for the complete phrase. You can store them at three different locations.

Source:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/83ecqy/how_you_can_store_your_recovery_words_very_safely/Here are the steps required:
So what you need first is an engraving pen that can engrave steel. Those cost less than 20 dollar and can be used to engrave anything, so may come in handy later for a gift or whatever. Those can be bought cheap on amazon for example.
Next thing you need is something to engrave to. I used cheap dog tags, a pack of 25 for ~5$ from China (banggood IIRC). But you can use whatever you want, 3 simple plates of old scrap metal work too.
Then you split the metal up in 3 groups.
Last step: You engrave your recovery words on them. If you use tags, you need 8 per group, because you can engrave front and back. So the first group gets words 1+2, 4+5...; The second group gets 2+3, 5+6...; and the third group gets 1+3, 4+6...; This only takes a few minutes, maybe half an hour if you're not used to a tool like the engraving pen.
It's done. You can now deposit each group of words in 3 different locations. You need 2 groups to recover your seed, so a thief can't do anything with it, while you still can restore the phrase easily. And your seed even is immune to water damage or whatever. Hope this helps!

To me since destroying is the next step of defacing, I think this implies you can't get punished for doing it.
This is not necessarily true. In the UK destroying is perfectly fine, but defacing notes is punishable.
Looke it up for germany. It seems to be fully legal, as the Euro banknotes are your possession (not the central banks) but if you destroy it "mutwillig" (malicous?) it looses it's value and does not have to be accepted by the bank or anyone anymore.
Maybe defacing is o.k. in Germany as there is no Queens face affected

But i think no one cares about that at the moment (unless it would become some kind of mass phenomena

We could use fluorescent color for writing or printing bitcoin propaganda on the notes.
Euro notes have fluorescent elements and are checked regularly with UV-light in stores etc.
The writing would only appear when checked but it would always be there and work in a subliminal way to the money-unconsciousness of the society while no one can make you responsible for the "malicous" reasons ("how could i know this banknote is full of bitcoin propaganda")

Africa (the unbanked) is where we really need to push adoption. I guess the issue is not having the internet (wifi or 4G). Imagine if even 1 in 1000 people had a mobile phone & a BTC wallet or something.
There is mobile internet - at least in cities and around highways. I think africa will be very soon show what's possible with bitcoin in areas with corrupt governments and inflated money. If smartphones become cheaper bitcoin could have a huge impact on the economy and society there.
And of course if LN works and transaction costs go really down. High transaction costs might be the main reason it is only used in totally wrecked economies (Zimbabwe) or "rich" african countries (Kenya, SA, Ghana)
M-Pesa is successful in parts of Africa - it's only a small step from there to cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin took another shit, The Dude sold out, we're in for a week of record-breaking low temperatures here, and rumor has it that Trump is caving on the wall.
What else can go wrong?
Chinese Year of the pig starts soon.
Wealth and happiness are coming! (at least for chinese people - maybe just walls for some others...

Under $3,400 let's see what sticks or maybe the bottom isn't in.
Now its above $3,400.
Seriously, you guys should stop biting off your nails at every $100 mark test. The bottom is currently $3220, or thereabouts -- almost $200 away. It's not time to get out the revolver or the cyanide until it breaks clean below $3200.
didn't kill blondie yet...

For those interested, Ledger is having discounts :
http://..../
Nice scam.
Note: Never ever buy a hardware wallet from anywhere other than the manufacturers website. Or you will have your money stolen from the hardware wallet.
Shit my bad, I didn't check. Please delete the link in your post.
I removed my post, sorry about that.
Prices are like on the original ledger website and it's also linking there.
Don't think it's a scam.

Bro, are ya'll new to Bitcoin or something or just really naive? It doesn't matter if the prices are the same. If you're not buying your hardware wallets from the official source, chances are you will get something that someone wrote down the seed, and repackaged it, providing a pin like 0000 and the seed. The prices are the same so scammers don't lose money off sales.
yeah...dont stick to the same price thing and thx for going personal
they were linking to the ledger website's shop...not a scam version of it ...so what's the point?
it's just a landing page from ledger (which might have not been the best idear)

I see what you're saying, but it is no way affiliated with Ledger, and it's NOT a landing page for Ledger.com The link at the top is a referral/affiliate link redirecting to the Ledger shop. Ledger only has 1 shop, and it's
https://ledger.comyou can't buy anything on this page they are redirecting you to the legit ledger shop
so no security breach - but might be some affilate link (at least supported by ledger)
but this get's senseless anyhow...

Don't panic.
S2F model still in play.
[..] Nobody actually needs Bitcoin for anything since it's a fake commodity and not a resource, so it's not price insensitive.
I guess this are somehow the same arguments as in Paleolithic caves around 40,000 B.C when the first crazies played around with gold flakes - about 35.000 years before the egyptians found finally some use cases for the stupid shiny metal.
