we have 2 upcoming forks, bitcoin gold and segwit2x. from bcash people know that a fork means free money. I think the price will go up and not down, people are buying because they want free coins. but we will most likely see a correction after the forks.

Both of them are excellent choices. Both have comparable (and excellent) security. They are also compatible with each other, in the sense that a recovery seed of a Ledger can be used on a TREZOR and vice versa.

TREZOR is the first and most mature product of the two. I have one and I'm extremely satisfied with it. I highly recommend a TREZOR.

Since 4 hours no block. So people who own Bcash in some wallet outside of exchanges can not transfer to those and sell.
So this pump is fishy as usual by the guys behind those coin.
If you have BCH on an exchange now might be good time to sell some or play the chart to make more BTC if you have the needed trading skills.

Last few days BTC was oversold. The depth of the markets shows that the demand is rapidly increasing. Moreover at least 1/3 of the miners switched to BCH which is more profitable by 50%. I expected the price would hold during the weekend and probably go up in the next few days. Who knows, may be another ATH is coming?

Bah. As I was getting ready to go buy the dip, someone came to my door and delayed me.

By the time I got to the ATM, the price had bounced back to yesterday's levels and the buy fee had tripled.

I took a pass, bought some munchies and came home. I suppose I could have bought garlic dip instead of the f'ing dip.

At least I don't have a job to go back to.  

How much risk are you willing to take? And how long can you keep hodling if the price tanks down to the $6k range or worse?

It all depends on these kind of things, the market can go both ways so you better have a good plan on where you are heading.

Buy now, buy later.  Just buy low.  What is low ?  Well is 10k low ?  Maybe it will be in a few months.  Is 8k low ?  Why not wait for 5k ?  then, at 5000, is that low ?  Price used to be 250, is that low ? because before that it was much lower, etc.  etc.  etc.  Buy, HODL, check again in 2 years.  Or else you are trading - then the real question is not whether you have bought low or high, but it is : will the price move higher or lower from here in the short term.  I think lower, then much higher.

Exponential behaviour

I've added some values, and made some slight changes to the order and naming. Removed "wealthy", as it conveys a different meaning and I believe it should not appear in the list. This is how I see it, based on my own perception of wealth status, and based on one's current BTC holdings. I'm sure each of us would use different amounts of BTC for each category...

The remarkable thing about Bitcoin is that in 12 months from now you can remove one least significant digit from each value range, and the list will still hold true!

Actually, the buy fee didn't come down at all at my closest ATM.

The price didn't really dip enough for my liking anyway. Dipping to where it was just a few short days ago isn't usually enough for me to buy.

Between the high fees and the shallow dip it wasn't worth it for me.

A couple of other machines offered better fees, but one is is a sketchy location and the other is too far outside my neighborhood. The cost of a cab would have negated any buying advantage considering the limited amount of fiat cash I have in hand at the moment.

Even if I had more cash and raced over in a cab, I might have been too late anyway. The price has already come halfway back up.

If it dips further and goes below $15k, I might be tempted to reallocate some funds to buy some more. For now however, I'll just hold.

We can occasionally talk about alts, but we have a long standing disgust and disdain for XRP (aka CentralizedPreminedBankerCoin) here that goes back years and years. IMO out of all the shitcoins, Ripple might be the worst. And it just won't die.

Last year at this time everyone thought that 2k by the end of 2017 was unrealistic. I wouldn't be surprised at all if btc hit 50-100k end of 2018.

One never sells on a correction. Ideally, not even swap coins. You use fiat for that.

Made the move to segwit today.
Decided to move all my BTC to a Segwit address. Have a feeling that LN will be released to the wild shortly.
No source just a gut feel.

We’re still in a baby bull market, just like in 2015 we had seemingly significant breakthroughs with positive price surges only to get dumped straight back to square one.

As for Trump, I don’t think his tweets have had any effect seeing as though if we were going to dump hard it would have been immediately after the tweets not days after.
