Enjoy your life and never look back..
There are many things more important than the possibility of wealth.
And congrats on your house being owned.
May your family once again regain your full attention and may the decisions you made for them never be regretted
Cheers
Very nice.
QuestionAuthority, get out of here.
Agreed.
And congrats, you have earned your dream. If you keep coming back here you will start second guessing and that is never good.

Wow damn, trying not to panic sell. Bought 17.5 Coins at 766$ 2-3 days ago. I´m nervous to lose my 13.5k$
Rule number one on bitcoin : do not sell on weekends.
Except last weekend was a good time to sell.

What are the chances of Chinese banks boycotting btcchina and other exchanges now? I can imagine the banking partners of btcchina getting antsy at this news.
My thoughts also. But don't try and be open minded on this thread, it's not allowed. Put your blinkers on and reach for the moon!
Thats why I think it will go down now. Even if it goes down to 500$ thats still double the April high.
China had a big role in this boom. To pretend that this news - which I do believe is a positive one in the long run - won't affect price in the short term (next 2-3 weeks) is just putting blinkers on IMO.

But every drop is met with such huge buy support... I know it's just speculators wanting to make a profit that start these dumps/pumps. I'm starting to think it would take something truly devastating to drop the price significantly from now on.
Lets see. $500 may have been too pessimistic, but I quoted that figure to point out its still a huge gain. It need not go down in a few devastating blows. If there is clear downtrend over the next few days it can keep creeping down.
Of course, it shouldn't matter to the average holder as long term everybody will profit anyways.

Good point. On the other hand, the same could have been said (in fact: was said) about the Silk Road takedown ("good news long term, but for now: bear market").
Remember how long that one kept us down?
Well, it will be an interesting watch. The news is long term bullish anyways.

Nope. Changed my mind:
My analysis has show we're going down hard. SELL SELL SELL!
Lol
Anyways, I sold around 10% of my cryptos (20% if you count just the BTCs) with the mindset that I am prepared to take any loss.
Lets see. At the very least I should breakeven with the usual weekend decline.

I've put in buy orders all the way down to $200.. bigger the lower we go.
Still holding on to my initial BTC investment, sold off the ones I made trading. Definitely feels like the right decision. If we go up again already, I'm cashing that money out for good. If we go down deep, I'm buying more BTC with them. Either way.. they're staying on stamp for the weekend. Possibly longer.
Bigger in fiat or just BTC?

My point is that if you're following the trading advice of anyone on this forum , you'll get burned at least once ... per day

.
Rpietila does some great posts that are good in theory and nice to read.
When it comes to action , I wouldn't trust this guy to handle my money.
By his own admission he bought in higher than he sold. And within 2-3 days the big crash happens.
Also add adamstingbit to the list.

People sell but the price goes up

Cmon did one mistake by selling yesterday, can we please go back to 800 for a second

if we did, you'd think "why buy now? It'll go lower"
Probably

But really, I regret it so much (again) that I speculated (once again wrong) and sold, even though I tell my self I will hold forever.
I've been there. The worst type of sell is the "damn, i could have sold at the top but didnt, lets sell now and hope it goes down"
Did exactly the same in this recent crash... got shook out at the bottom thinking it had further to go, then frantically bought back in at a $150 loss. Think I'm just going to hold for ever until the moon or zero :/
You say that now ....
Btw, whats moon or 0? If it goes to $1m you may still be thinking it will go to $10m and end up holding.

totally agreed
so ..on the 5th BTC is @ 1153. the news dropped that day or Wedneday morning and then we on Friday a whale dump happened.. are you saying that.. the whale saw that coming and were always planning to dump Friday.
The downtrend was there. The news caused a bigger crash.

Bid side of the order book on Bitstamp looks thin. I can't understand why the price stays up - nothing's supporting it. And that wall at 900 has been looming there for the whole day. Is someone waiting for funds so as to snatch almost 700 coins in front of the wall, before pulling it?
Didn't you buy in? Or have you sold again?

Sold at a small loss, didn't like being trapped against a wall.
Placed a few spread buy orders down into 700-s
It probably means the price will rally soon beyond 900.

Oh, and I cashed out all my initial investments in BTC and mining equipment, plus a small bonus on top of that. That felt incredibly good. I feel much calmer, and the nagging feeling of fear deep down is gone. It's purely for fun from now and onwards.
Dammit - why did you sell? I sold earlier (roughly similar to your initial sell point, but on Btc-e) and was wondering whether to buy when you bought. Now you had to go ahead and sell again and mess it all up

IMO, just stick to your guns now. At this rate even if you make some profit trade at some point it will come to nothing.
Nice to hear you cashing out and enjoying. Far too many people in here are waiting for the big prize and missing out on all the benefits money could have them right now. There was this guy who cashed out millions, paid his mortgages and virtually retired.

want to arb the hell out of BTCe, do you think the price will keep over 900 the next 60min?
Quite likely. There doesn't seem to be big movements - its dull as a ditch today.
I presume you want to change Btc-e fiat to goxbux? Keep in mind that if it crashes Btc-e may drop far lower than gox. Plus goxbux are not the best currency around, worse than fiat.

bid sum at $36.135 million @ gox
Lots of money and little activity!!! Everyone is waiting for cheap coins and/or weak hands!!!
Can anyone guess what will happen?
No, buy I bought back in earlier today at 940 because the trend seemed to indicate UP, that turned out to be a local top (no surprise there).
As long as I hold and don't sell at a loss, the prices will go down.
See you at 200, guys.

I am waiting for the day you will come here and post saying your play money has gone to 0

Bitstamp has just gone horizontally linear after a perfect hyperbola. I've never seen anything like this.
The big sell walls at Bitstamp yesterday looked quite ominous to me, since this is a reliable exchange to actually get fiat out.

bullish of course.

Keep holding till the end of time. Tbh, I don't understand why you read a trollish thread like this since your plan is simple - buy on dips and keep holding.

It's the first night I held all BTC overnight, and of course, it goes down!
Oh, and good morning from Europe.
There was never too much support, and the other exchanges didn't quite participate. If gox can get another rally in tonight then nice, otherwise get ready for another long weekend.

What the hell happened?!
I walk out for a couple of hours, and - this?!
Well, luckily, I sold at a loss at 940 and placed an optimistic buy at 902. Then I walked out. A few minutes later 902 got hit!
I have now 1 BTC more than what I started the day with.
On the down side, it seems to continue down, and I wonder if I should sell again and re-buy even lower...
Wow, you finally made a profit

Good on you

Let's see what my next move is.... I'll hold fiat with a "lower than sell" buy order for a couple of days (yeah, I know, boring).
You say that now, but you are gonna buy back in before the day is over

Seriously, though, its a good strategy. IMO its going down now; you just have to be patient. How low? very difficult to say of course, but $700 is easy, maybe even $600, $500 if panic grips.

Ah, so unexpected. The sheep on Stamp are starting to poop their pants. Because panic selling on Stamp is the smartest thing to do if Gox goes down, right?
What is stopping Mtgox from buying up all the cheap coins personally and dumping it on Bitstamp?
I think that is part of the plan. Its one huge manipulation stunt pulled by gox.
Good for me, though

I thought they were only down for a few hours the other day.
Lots of people in the other thread complaining their withdrawls got stuck on 11th and 12th and they are still waiting, while all those who withdrew after that says it worked fine. So, just wanted to confirm if it is working right now.

"At this point 744,408 BTC are missing due to malleability-related theft which went unnoticed for several years."
This simply can't be right unless a few insiders were stealing them.
That document is FUD, guaranteed. I believe Mt.Gox are not solvent and will not survive on their own but that 744k BTC theft smells like BS like a lot of other stuff that doesn't make sense in that "leak".
I agree, after reading it a couple times I think the leak is fake.. it just seems so far fetched. It's weird that several parts of it have been confirmed independently though, something just isn't adding up.
"A leak in our hot wallet" causing coins to be lost from their "cold wallet". If that truly happened, then they have the worst security practices ever...
Should make a comedy film out of it.
'The Escapades of Mt. Gox'
'You got Goxed'
