I'm pretty sure most of that is Willy(?) selling into their own walls...
It's bots on Mt. Gox or something of the sort, trading back and forth. The volume is abnormally inflated compared to recent trends. It's not like Gox has THAT many slumbering patrons who haven't been touching the market for the past few years, and are only now waking up.

Amazed that the prices have been so solid with the auction stuff...as always though HODL
we wont go past 600 until the winning bid is revealed
To late, already went to 604.
It only touched $600 for a few minutes on BitStamp, though, and then went back down.

Point?
The bid wall there to get past 600 is a big one. I'd like to see it broken, no doubt.

point is that sideways motion is the least likely outcome from this.
this is the time to place your bets.
I should have made a bet to fade mat just out of principle, or is it superstition?
anyways, here is my first foray into leveraged betting. *following mat's lead*

good luck and never fool yourself, it's all just bets.
Speaking of bets, stuff like the following are using today's high price in the decision logic. It'd be crazy if someone needed to keep the price from going no higher than 600 on BitStamp until, say, midnight EDT. It'd require really deep pockets, so I'd say it's pretty unlikely, but fun to think about.

If Bitcoin will continue to fall for a few more weeks/months the ALT-scene will get nearly wiped out. I will shed no tears
Yes, it is such a feast now for the ones buying alts that are independent of BTC, yet get double hammering due to BTC. Monero comes to mind

Darkcoin and Cloakcoin have been getting killed much more lately. Monero just needs that darn monerochain.info fully synced again ASAP so the market cap figures are correct, then I'll be happy. It's moving slow -- up to 3 months ago at the moment.

I think that is/was for something else. The entrepreneur in residence at Dell bit right before the break, I think.

I think a few people need time to close their shorts.
Yep, after changing their shorts.

Anyone notice that risto has been quiet lately? I guess he's picked up the carpet bag and is on to his next swindle, now that monero also proved to be a pump and dump scheme.

Sad that a few people here actually still listen to this guy.
Been a whack job since day 1. Lucky early adopter that's probably losing everything he made one day at a time until he's broke.
I think he brokers trades for others which probably means he comes out ahead no matter what happens.
Until we break $340, he's not wrong.

Dat hashrate stability tho?
huh?
The hashrate.. it isnt going up anymore.
Only since last Sunday, and we've seen steeper drops in the hash rate in the past.

Back to $350. How long will it last?
Unless we somehow go above $360 soon, the steepened downward trend since $597 (the first week of August) seems like it will continue on down.

We've got a bomb cyclone weather system hitting the U.S., significantly dropping temps, so we'll at least see the hash rate increase for those mining to heat their homes.

Is the price crashing because were on a fork? Somebody said we were being forked by some guy named Gavlin? Is that true?
Not exactly, but you can read this:

So is everyone supposed to sell their coins and then repurchase them on Bitcoin XT?
And where do you go to buy Bitcoin XT coins?
The whole concept of a fork makes no sense to me.
But I do think people dost protest too much about it.
Exchanges may have to do all the sorting out of the account books, all the burden will actually rest on them.
I guess you could do a one time switch to XT if you desire.
... but then isn't Gavin trying to get people to change the blocksize on the regular bitcoin?
I actually think they should go ahead with the fork. And stop worrying about who is in control.
If Bitcoin XT gets to be enough of the majority, as specified, and larger blocks begin to be mined, you won't have to do anything special with your bitcoins, as Bitcoin XT will have taken the place of Bitcoin, and you'll still be spending those very same bitcoins on the majority network.

Anyway, XT altcoin fork is dead now. Block size debate was just a cover up now revealing hidden agenda to introduce among bitcoin users the XT client that is simply an IP logger and blacklist aggregator!
Conspiracy theories are why we can't have nice things. There was no hidden agenda.
