For sure. I was planning on replacing the HDD with a new SSD before even booting it up the first time, then being really careful during installation.
As I said before, I don't trust anything from any American company in this age of Prism. If Win7 becomes unusable, I'll switch to Linux in a heartbeat. Phuque the NSA.
If it has legacy BIOS and I can install from my TheThingy DVD, I'll avoid the HP/MS DVD completely. I'll still have a legal Win7 license.
MS is stopping support for Win7 updates so I see no need to do any updates, so I'll just turn them off. After all, I'm just planning on using it as a "throwaway" system anyway... nothing important, confidential, nor sensitive.
