I haven't made a bitcoin transaction in a while. Just did one, expecting delays, with all the hype going on. 7 confirmations in 28 minutes. Surprised? Ah, yep.
The only delay to be concerned about is the first confirmation. After that it is only about the variance of block times.
For 2 out of 20 transactions this year I have had to wait one or 2 extra blocks for the first confirmation. The only real problem I had was because the company that paid me sent me a >8000 byte transaction, that is ~30 greater size than an avg transaction, while only using a 0.0001 fee. That took a while but less than a day. They are new to btc so who knows how they manage their wallet and it seems they use a one size fits all fee of 0.0001
As far as price, sideways till segwit. It is an absolute must that you take this as trading advice
